Home Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy, which involves stretching and mobilising exercise in a heated pool, uses the buoyancy of water for weight relief and its resistance for muscle strengthening. It is highly recommended for people who have AS.

Margaret Lewington (AS Qld consultant Physiotherapist) offers supervised hydrotherapy sessions on Tuesday nights for one hour from 6:30pm at:

Level 2,
Ned Hanlon Building,
Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital,
Butterfield Street,
Herston Brisbane QLD

Enter via the main entry in Butterfield Street, take the first set of elevators on the right to level 2 and follow the hydrotherapy pool signs. The cost is $10 per session or $90 for a 10 session pass.  The pool is 18 metres long and 12 metres wide and set in a spacious well equipped room. The water temperature is 34°C and air temperature is 28°C.  An integrated spa area is perfect for warming down after class.  Commercial parking (at the rate of $2.70 per half-hour or part thereof) is available at the hospital car park which you enter from Butterfield Street. There is some street parking in Butterfield Street and Garrick Terrace which may be more easily available at class times.
